Our systems allow us to generate around a 60% of the energy we use in the school.
We have three cutting-edge energy efficient systems:
1.- THERMAL CELLS: generation of heat using solar energy.
In operation since 2005.
Renewable energy generated: 350 000kWh = 350 MWh (per year)
Footprint reduction: 58 000 kg = 58 Tm
2.- PHOTOVOLTAIC CELLS: generation of electricity using solar energy.
In operation since 2008.
Power: 75 kW
Renewable energy generated: 158 000 Kwh = 158 MWh (per year)
Footprint reduction: 29 000 kg = 29 Tm
3.- GEOTHERMICS: generation of heat using the existing temperature underground.
In operation since 2011.
Power: 120 kW
Renewable energy generated: 550 000 kWh = 550 MWh (per year)
Footprint reduction: 83 000 kg = 83 Tm
ENVIRONMENTAL PRIZE OF ARAGÓN 2014:
This prize was awarded for being the FIRST SCHOOL IN SPAIN to introduce the ISO 14.001:2004 (environment) through its students (1º ESO). They presented the project to a Auditor Independiente de la Empresa de Certificación ACMM.
THE STRATEGY OF CLIMATE CHANGE AND RENEWABLE ENRGIES OF ARAGÓN:
The school is in level 2 of commitment, Adhesion agreement through the Plan of Action.
SOCIETY OF ICHTHYOLOGIC STUDIES (SEI):
An agreement has been established with this Society to support the conservation of species in danger. More information HERE.
ECOLOGY AND DEVELOPMENT:
The School has participated in different campaigns of the Fundación de Ecología y Desarrollo (Ecology and Development Foundation):
– Water saving.
– Zaragoza saves paper and trees.
In 2009 the School covered the costs of the installation of municipal recycling containers in the outer car park. This allows to recycle a big amount of cans, glass, paper and cardboard.
